The Role

Reporting to the Chairman, the Group General Manager (GGM) is responsible for
leading and building the management, administrative and advisory functions of the PCJ,
as well as developing and establishing policies and objectives for the Corporation. The
incumbent will also have responsibility for shaping the strategic roadmap for the group’s
business and operational plans to achieve business results and profitability.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

 Possesses the skillset to ensure that there is in operation, an effective
framework of governance at the PCJ, which provides the direction and
parameters within which business is to be conducted and will align
accountability and authority and define required standards and guidelines for
effective Corporate Governance
 Must be a strong leader who has excellent business acumen with a proven track
record as a Senior Executive
 Is passionate, motivated and driven with entrepreneurial instincts
 Should be flexible and adaptable with a positive approach to managing projects
 Must be resourceful, innovative, forward thinking and committed as well as
highly creative with a strategic approach to business development
 Should have strong problem solving, negotiating, analytical, decision-making
and delegating skills and be highly experienced in process improvement, quality
management, financial planning, team building and communication skills
 Should be able to devise long range goals and objectives to meet the targets of
the Ministry of Energy and the Government of Jamaica
 Must have sound fiduciary experience
 Must possess the ability to liaise with government and international agencies
and forge partnerships for matters relating to the implementation of the national
energy policy and the development of Jamaica’s energy resources

 Should be familiar with the Public Bodies Management and Accountability Act,
Financial Administration and Audit Act, and other relevant legislation which
guide the operations of the PCJ in order to ensure compliance
The Successful Applicant must have a thorough understanding of corporate governance
and sound understanding of the energy sector. Furthermore, it is critical for candidates
to have extensive management experience as well as the following:
 An Undergraduate Degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline and a Master’s
Degree in Business, Social Sciences or a relevant discipline gained from a
recognized university
 Minimum eight (8) years of senior management experience and a proven track
record as a successful executive, with the ability to drive and advocate for
transformational change.
 Knowledge in project development and management of power and energy
programmes would be an asset
 Experience in interpreting financial reports
 Sound understanding of Government of Jamaica procurement policies and
procedures, systems and protocols
